Product Reviews:
I picked this bit up to drill holes into my garage concrete slab for a automobile lift. I had picked up locally a Bosch SPS+ bit that didn't work properly surrounded by my hammer drill. I figured with a brand new point drill the remaining 5 holes would be easy. Even with drilling pilot holes of 1/4", then 1/2" then 5/8" past trying to reach the 7/8" size of this bit I was surprised how slow and tough the drilling was. Now maybe my sledge hammer drill isn't state of the art, but it is a hammer drill not a normal drill, and the 1/2" bit from a lesser marketed brand cut though the concrete much easier.
I found 7/8" to be a difficult size to find locally, most places step from 3/4" to 1", so Amazon came through where the local places had nothing.
This bit is a masonary bit to be used in a hammer drill. It is a good ability bit from a company that is known for quality tools, esp. when it comes to hammer drills. If you be only making a small number of small holes in masonary, say for anchors, you might know how to use a standard drill with non hammering masonary bits. But if the job calls for larger quantities or larger holes, Step up to a hammerdrill next to hammer masonary bits like this one.
I have used this bit to drill through concrete block foundation walls in lay down to feed conduit and wires to exterior outlets. This bit when used in conjunction with a hammerdrill, made the holes needed much faster than a rotary non hammer masonary bit surrounded by a non hammer drill.
Bosch bits seem to stand up to tough use better than the B&D/Dewalt bits that I had previously used. The Shank of the bit is reduced down to fit in the chuck of a 1/2 inch tack hammer drill. So you cannot use this if your hammerdrill has a 3/8 inch chuck. Also, I use this bit in a Ridgid Hammerdrill that is rated for this size bit. Many other brands do not generate plenty power or torque to turn this large of a bit, so check the specifications on your hammer drill before using it with this bit or you could risk hurtful the tool. I would resist the temptation to try using this bit with a cordless drill for the same reason.
Bit be put into service immediately upon receipt and has drilled with no problems through poured concrete underground room walls and concrete stairs. It has maintained its cutting edge extremely well. I would not hesitate to recommend this blade to other users.
shank problem
I bought this Bosch drill bit to use in my 1/2" Bosch hammer drill. The shank will not insert into the fully opened jaws of the chuck. The chuck is productive to the drill.
nice bits
I enjoy purchased at least 8 of these bits. Over the past 3 years I have been working on a huge project (retaining wall) at my mere house.
A great drill bit
I have used one of the smaller bosch bits for anchoring in my basement walls many abundant times. On the strength of that performance, I purchased this bit.
