      I carry this light and a center strip of LED's on my helmet and more often use the pelican over the LEDs. The photoluminescent shroud makes it easier for my crew to spot me, and the switch is effortless to find and operate with gloves on. Although I haven't used this light in IDLH situations, I have angelic confidence it will perform as advertised. This light is well worth the price.
      It's not cheap, but you can't step wrong with Pelican flashlights. I had one for years and years. It quit working (too much salt water I guess) and they replaced it free, no question asked. This one, the 2400PLC has a glow in the dark shroud, which make it handy to find in a dark bag or on the bedside table without have to turn the light on. I like it, and like everything Pelican, it works as it should. It also serves quite very well as a dive light. I have had mine down to over 100 feet and no leak. Just be sure to keep the O-rings greased and clean.
      Originally, I bought a Pelican 2100 stealthlite and be disappointed because the twist-on light allows the battery amps to leak away. With its robust switch, tube-shaped back, and florescent (see-in-the-dark) boss this is ideal for a water-proof application or one requiring Div.2 certification. Note that electrical area classification (EAC) Division 1 is not available at any reasonable price.

      Division 1 is for areas where on earth ignitable mixtures of dust and air or a flammable (Class I or heated Class II or Class III) liquid is likely to be present. Division 2 is where these mixtures are not customarily present, except when equipment is opened. Under these circumstances, that area becomes Division 1. (Division zero within Europe.)

      This flashlight requires 4-AA batteries, which come with the flashlight. IT's a little tricky loading batteries. Once you've removed the kerosene lamp and bulb, push the battery cover below the lamp a couple of times; I almost used a screwdriver.
